After St. John the Theologian Monastery was returned to Orthodox Church in the autumn of 1988 the complete cycle of canonical Divine services began to be celebrated here from the very beginning. The beginning of the morning service falls at 5.30 a.m. on week-days. Morning prayers are said. Then Midnight Office, the Hundred Prayers (one hundred bows at the revered icon of the Theotokos of Tikhvin with the words “O Most Holy Theotokos, save us! ”, the Matins including the Two Psalms, the Six Psalms, two kathismas, canons to saints, “prasing” sticherons and great doxology.
